Highlights of 2007 SustainabilityFEST
NCAT'S 2007 SustainabilityFEST was a great success with over 40 exhibitors and vendors from across Montana showcasing sustainable products, services and information.
Our panels of speakers presented on topics ranging from farming with draft horses to buying local foods to global warming and its impacts on wildlife. The “Sustainability in Your Backyard” demonstration drew over 100 people interested in rainwater catchment, native and drought tolerant grasses and composting. The wool spinning demonstration along with live sheep and goats was also a big hit.
Kids learned how to use recycled materials to make birdhouses and tile mosaics and the Clark Fork Watershed Education Project had staff on hand to show kids how to identify bugs from local rivers. Attendees enjoyed local food and live entertainment.
With help from our partners, Butte-Silver Bow and the Montana Department of Environmental Quality, the electronic equipment recycling program doubled in size over last year's event. Three semi loads of computers and other electronics will now not go into the landfill!
Thanks to everyone who participated and helped to make our 2nd Annual SustainabilityFEST a special event!
